ESCOLA DE SAMBA CASA SAMBA LEGACY FUND

Donations for maintaining New Orleans parading traditions.

Casa Samba Legacy Fund

The Casa Samba Legacy Fund is a transformative initiative by Casa Samba, created to revitalize and expand the beloved SAMBAKIDS Program. For over 20 years, SAMBAKIDS has introduced children ages 5-18 to the vibrant world of Afro-Brazilian culture, offering hands-on experiences in drumming, dance, stilt-walking, and Capoeira. Through this fund, we aim to ensure that future generations of New Orleans youth continue to experience the magic and enrichment of Afro-Brazilian traditions.

Our Mission
The mission of the Casa Samba Legacy Fund is to provide free cultural arts education that preserves and celebrates the Afro-Brazilian roots that connect New Orleans to Brazil. By fostering creativity, discipline, and teamwork, the program equips children with invaluable life skills while enhancing their appreciation for cultural diversity.

Fund Goals

  • Reintroduce Free Weekly Classes: Expand access to free classes for children in drumming, dance, Capoeira, and stilt-walking.
  • Expand Community Outreach: Increase engagement with schools and community centers to reach more youth across New Orleans.
  • Enhance Performance Opportunities: Provide platforms for children to perform at festivals, parades, and cultural events, boosting confidence and public speaking skills.
  • Develop Leadership Skills: Empower youth to take on leadership roles within the program, mentoring younger participants and serving as cultural ambassadors.

Why It Matters
SAMBAKIDS is more than just an arts program. It’s a movement that fosters community, identity, and pride. By connecting children to their Afro-Brazilian heritage, we strengthen their sense of belonging and encourage them to become active participants in preserving cultural traditions.

Impact Stories
“SAMBAKIDS gave my child the confidence to perform in front of large crowds and a sense of pride in their cultural heritage.” – Parent of SAMBAKIDS participant.
“Being part of SAMBAKIDS helped me develop leadership skills and embrace my roots. Now I mentor younger participants and share what I’ve learned.” – Former SAMBAKIDS participant.

Donate Support to Make Difference way

Casa Samba Legacy Fund is the voluntary act of giving help, typically in the form of money, time, or resources, to those in need. Charitable organizations aim to solve social, environmental, and economic challenges by addressing issues like poverty

  • MISSION The Mission of the programs is to audiences with an authentic Brasilian Carnival and folk arts experience. The Samba Man has sparked a community group called Samba Kids sponsored by Mestre Curtis Pierre and Casa Samba, a New Orleans based samba school. We accomplish this through weekly open rehearsals, classes and frequent school and university workshops/presentations. Additionally, we maintain a center that works to educate the New Orleans community and the Gulf South region of the rich cultural traditions of Brasil and the similarities which bridge Carnival in Brasil with Mardi Gras in New Orleans emphasizing that importance of their African tradition and influences.
